MINSK, April 12 (Itar-Tass) -- Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko sees no future for his country outside the union with Russia.
"We will not be able to carry on without Russia," he said. "It is a powerful pillar for us to rely on," Lukashenko told a news conference on Thursday. "If you wish, it has been a safeguard of our sovereignty. We shall build a union with Russia, I am pretty certain about that. This goal will be accomplished, if not by us, that by those who will succeed us."
At the same time Lukashenko said that there had emerged major obstructions in the way of building the union state lately.
