Belarus To Allow European Commission Office In Minsk

April 25, 2007 -- A spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry says Minsk has agreed to allow the European Commission to open a representative office in Minsk, RFE/RL reported today.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrey Popov said Belarus has approved the commission's request, which was first submitted in 2005.

European Commission Spokeswoman Christiane Hohmann said Minsk and Brussels now need to negotiate the details and conditions for opening the office.
