Russia, Belarus may sign air defense agreement on April 20 - official

MONINO (Moscow region). April 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Air Force Commander Gen. Vladimir Mikhailov has said he hopes that Russia and Belarus will sign an agreement on the Union State's regional air defense system on April 20, during a visit to Minsk by Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov.

"I would very much like to sign the agreement tomorrow. All the necessary documents are ready and our supreme commander has approved them. We have coordinated the signing with the Foreign Ministry. The documents will be signed if Belarus completes internal formalities. If not, they will be signed in the near future," he said.
