Oman, Belarus agree to augment relations

MUSCAT - His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus held discussions here on Sunday, the second and final day of an official visit here by the President.

A statement issued afterwards said the two leaders agreed to strengthen ties between their countries in all sectors and reviewed regional and international issues of joint interest.

Also on Sunday, Lukashenko conferred with Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers Sayyid Fahad bin Mahmood Al Said.

The President underlined the "positive outcome" of his meeting with Sultan Qaboos that, he said, "will be beneficial to the two friendly peoples."

He also praised Oman's achievements and country and its "vital role in serving issues of the region and enhancing international understanding."

Sayyid Fahad said the Sultanate was keen to "extend friendship ties to world countries on the basis of mutual confidence."

He stressed the importance of the President's visit in cementing bilateral cooperation.
