No int'l issue could be solved without India's participation: Belarus

In the background of huge economic and human potential of India, no international issue could be solved without the participation of New Delhi, said Belarus president here Monday.

Belarus President Lukashenko who arrived here last night on a two-day visit was accorded ceremonial reception in the forecourt of President House this morning.

Later talking to newsmen, he said that India is a top priority in his country's foreign policy. In the background of huge economic and human potential of India, no international issue could be solved without the participation of New Delhi.

Lukashenko was accompanied by the heads of major state-owned and private companies and several contracts worth millions of dollars are expected to be signed.

The visiting Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko will be holding a delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh this evening before signing of agreements and a Joint Declaration outlining main areas of cooperation.

Both the sides will review bilateral relations besides exchanging views on matters of international interest, enhanced cooperation in science and technology and promotion of bilateral trade.

Lukashenko will also call on the President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and will also meet the Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee during his stay.
