US Terrorism Denounced in Belarus

Minsk, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) Serguei Kostyan, vice chair of the Belarusian House Permanent Committee for International Affairs, denounced the US terrorist policy in the world Tuesday.

US foreign policy means terrorism and banditry, and the European Union supports it, Kostyan told Prensa Latina.

Kostyan, also head of the Belarusian working group for cooperation with Cuba, said that Washington's behavior, together with the EU position, are due to fear of accusations of great human rights violations in other regions and even in their own countries.

He condemned US actions in Guantanamo and other parts of the world, and declared the EU Parliament is an accomplice to this aggressive policy, and closes its eyes.

The legislator demanded closing of all those centers, payment of compensation to the victims, and the beginning of a judicial process against those responsible.

He also asked why European governments do not demand that the UN Security Council close all illegal detention and torture centers as well as US military bases and withdrawal of its troops from foreign nations, and allow countries, such as Iran, to defend themselves from the danger of hegemony policies.

He concluded with a discussion of the struggle and campaigns by progressive thinkers and solidarity organizations for the release of the Cuban Five, unfairly imprisoned in the US, while real criminals go free.
