Venezuela says to export 80,000 bpd to Belarus

CARACAS, March 15 (Reuters) - South America's top oil exporter Venezuela will export to Belarus 80,000 barrels of crude per day starting in May, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said on Monday.

"We have agreed ... to start sending 80,000 barrels of Venezuela crude to Belarus from the first of May," Chavez said after meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.

Belarus largely depends on Russia for its energy needs but is starting to diversify its suppliers. Venezuela is also seeking to sell more crude to markets outside its main client, the United States.

Belarus' state oil company already has access to one Venezuelan oil field, but produces less than 20,000 bpd there. (Reporting by Enrique Pretel; editing by Carol Bishopric)
