Belarus Campaign: Matzah for Everyone

GRODNO, Belarus - Members of the Jewish community of Grodno are reaching out to their fellow Jews in the smaller towns of the region to deliver matzah.

According to the chairman of the Jewish community of Grodno, Elena Kutsevich, this project involves virtually all staff members of the local Chesed Charity Fund and of the Jewish community itself, who are busy distributing boxes of matzah to all towns of the Grodno Region where Jews reside.

The communities being visited include seven main regional centers, including Lida, Volkovysk Shchuchin, Mosty, Skidel, Zelva, and another 12 smaller settlements. "The project takes quite a bit of time and man-power as we need to bring the matzah directly to the homes of many Chesed beneficiaries, especially as many of them are home-bound," explained Ms. Kutsevich. "This is a campaign we carry out every year in advance of Passover so that all Jews can celebrate the holiday with matzah on their table."

Before Passover, the beneficiaries will also receive food parcels, which were made possible through the local Chesed Fund and the Jewish community of Grodno, a member of the Association of Jewish Communities of Belarus.
