Godel grows its Minsk base

By Michael Fahy

Manchester-based software development firm Godel Technologies (GodelTech) has just announced it is moving its operations in Minsk where its software development staff are based.

The firm's managing director, Terry Bland, said that the move to a new 4,000 sq ft office which would accommodate up to 100 staff would be its fifth in five years.

"The software industry is truly global thanks to companies like Microsoft and Oracle. Their internationally recognised certifications and qualifications are a universal standard that guarantees quality anywhere in the world. This means that in places like Belarus where the cost of living is substantially less than the UK, the same highly-qualified software professionals cost considerably less than their counterparts in the UK, while offering the same level of expertise," said Bland.

He argued that by using European-based staff, it doesn't suffer from the type of problems that firms who use offshoring operations in India.

"We do not suffer the time zone or cultural differences that Indian companies do," he said. "This allows us to offer a superb service at a fraction of the cost of those companies that have all their staff based in the UK."
