Belarus' BMZ to deliver OCTG to Venezuela

SteelOrbis - Byelorussian Iron and Steel Works (BMZ) has signed a contract for the production and delivery of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) to Venezuela. The first batch of 5,600 mt of OCTG will be shipped by May 15, 2010, Belarusian news agency BelTA has reported.

Venezuela will be the company's second buyer on the American continent. In February this year, BMZ delivered 2,000 mt of several sizes of casing for the US oil industry. The buyer, Tejas Casing Ltd, did not inspect the company as is the practice, expecting high quality from BMZ products. If the pipes perform well, the company will be able to ship up to 5,000 mt of pipes to the US each month.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, by April 1, 2010, BMZ will also deliver 1,000 mt of oil and gas pipes to Rosneft, the leading company in the Russian petroleum industry, to be used for the capital repairs of its oil wells.

The pipes are manufactured at BMZ's pipe rolling plant. Since its commissioning in July 2007, it has mastered the production of 544 types of pipe. Currently, pipes for the oil and gas industry make up 50 percent of the output, while pipes used in mechanical engineering account for 35 percent of BMZ's total pipe output.

Currently, BMZ is in the process of mastering the production of seamless hot rolled pipes of ShKh15 bearing steel, and is preparing to start manufacturing pipes from cast billets with a diameter of 200 mm.
