Grodno to build large cord & nylon fibre production capacity

Joint Stock Company Grodno Khimvolokno is planning to set up a large scale textile plant to manufacture cord and nylon fibre. This was conveyed to the visiting Premier of Belarus by the Director General of the company, Mr Konstantin Mayanov.

Grodno was set up in 1978 and started off with a production capacity 8,500 tons per annum of chemical fibres and yarns. Today production capacity of the enterprise is more than 50,000 tons of polyamide-6 and 35,000 tons per annum of chemical fibres and yarns.

It will be a greenfield project and will be implemented in stages and will be fully operational by 2013. In the first stage, it will install machinery for producing polyamide polymers after which in the second stage it will further process these polyamides.

In the last and final stage it will install yarn twisting equipment. The project will adhere to global environmental standards and is expected to reduce raw material and energy consumption and will not emit harmful substances.
