Belarus Strips Correspondent Of His Accreditation

MINSK -- The Belarusian Foreign Affairs Ministry has revoked the accreditation of a correspondent for the Polish daily "Gazeta Wyborcza," RFE/RL's Belarus Service reports.

Andrzej Paczobut told RFE/RL that he believes the decision by the Belarusian authorities to deprive him of the accreditation is connected with his journalistic activities.

The Foreign Ministry says Paczobut's articles are biased and damage Belarusian President Alyaksandar Lukashenka's image.

Paczobut says he is going to take a vacation until March 15 and then he will continue working without the government's accreditation.

He adds that he plans to sue the Foreign Ministry.
