Belarus' Olympic champ Aramnau banned for driving drunk

WARSAW, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Belarus' weightlifting Olympic champion Andrei Aramnau has been banned for two years from competition on Friday after being caught driving drunk again.

The 20-year-old, who won the 105kg category gold medal in Beijing with several world records, was stripped of a presidential monthly stipend worth more than 5,000 U.S. dollars and also faces criminal charges for being a repeat offender.

It was the second time in less than three month for Aramnau, who was first caught driving drunk in December before he repeated the offence last month.
