Oman, Belarus sign aviation accord

MUSCAT -- Oman and Belarus have reached a draft agreement on regulating air transport between the two countries.

The accord, agreed after talks here between senior officials from the two sides on Tuesday, lays down the number of direct flights and designates national carriers, Rashid bin Mohammed Al Kiyumi, Assistant Director-General of Civil Aviation Affairs at the Ministry of Transport and CommunicationsMinistry of Transport and Communications Ministry of Transport and Communication, who led the Omani team, said after the discussions.

Vladmir Looginov, First Deputy Director of the Department of Civil Aviation, led the Belarusian delegation. Kiyumi said the two sides also decided on the routes and schedules of flights.

He added the deal would be presented to higher authorities in for their approval, adding that the agreement has incorporated 'high flexibility' with regard to the number of passenger and cargo flights. "Reaching an agreement on regularising air transportation service with any country will facilitate initiatives by air carriers to plan and explore future market and will also activate cooperation between them to enter into code-share agreements," Kiyumi said.
