Belarus: one more young oppositionist "abducted" by KGB to prevent her from participation in a rally

Prominent Belarusian opposition activist Krystina Shatsikava, who was abducted by unknown men, allegedly from KGB, in Mahilyow on Friday, may be held in the city mental hospital, the RFE/RL Belarus Service reported with reference to Mahilyow human rights defenders. Her whereabouts was not known since she was seen forced into a Niva car in downtown Mahilyow at about 4:30 p.m. on March 23, BelaPAN reports.

Shatsikava, known for her active participation in last spring's three-day protest vigil against Alyaksandr Lukashenka's reelection as president, was arrested in Minsk on March 22. She was taken to Mahilyow, where she officially resides, questioned by KGB officers in connection with a criminal case against young opposition leaders, and released on the same day. She was interrogated once again at the city's KGB office on Friday afternoon. The young woman repeatedly said that she was set to participate in an opposition demonstration in central Minsk on March 25.
