Belarus: Poll Observers Won't Speak For EU

Twelve members of the EU Parliament traveling to oversee Belarusian presidential elections March 19 will "speak for themselves" and not for the European Union, EU commissioner for external relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner said March 6. She added that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe will produce the final report and be present at polling stations. The EU is sending an ad hoc team of seven members of parliament, led by Poland's Bogdan Klich, and another five are traveling on their own.
