Belarussian Gomel to get status of CIS cultural capital of 2011
MINSK, February 28 (Itar-Tass) - The Belarussian city of Gomel will this year become one of the main cultural centres of the Commonwealth of Independent States. At a ceremony on Monday, the regional centre will get the certificate awarding it the status of the CIS cultural capital of 2011. Heads of the culture ministries of Russia and Belarus, officials from the CIS Executive Committee, the Inter-State Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, the Council for Cultural Cooperation, special representatives of CIS states as well as renowned cultural activists will take part in the ceremony.
