Lukashenko denies ties between Belarusian officials, Berezovsky

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Saturday disowned information about alleged ties between Belarusian senior officials and Russian fugitive tycoon Boris Berezovsky.

Reports that papers belonging to Berezovsky have been uncovered in a raid on an illegal gambling center in Moscow appeared in the media this week. According to the media, Berezovsky's papers contain notes about his contacts with Head of the Belarus President Administration Vladimir Makei.

"This is a yet another hoax; somebody in Russia wants to tarnish my reputation," the Belarusian president said.

"How could the secret papers of person who fled Russia years ago and lives in Great Britain have appeared in Moscow?"
