Insurance market in Belarus rose by 26.1% in 2010

Insurance companies in Belarus recorded in 2010 gross written premiums worth USD 446 million, increasing by 26.1% in comparison with 2009, showed the data provided by the Ministry of Finances.

The underwritings volume on the voluntary insurance segment grew by USD 50.1 million, up to USD 223.1 million, and on the mandatory insurance segment - by USD 24.1 million, reaching USD 223.2 million.

The claims paid by profile companies reached USD 267 million, up by USD 56.5 million compared to 2009, representing approximately 60% of total underwrittings. In 2010, insurers have transered to the state a sum amounting to USD 44.7 million.

On the general insurance segment, the leader remains BELGOSSTRAKH, with underwrittings amounting USD 23.76 million, followed by TASK - USD 3.40 million and B&B Insurance (USD 3.028 million).

Out of the four operating companies on the life insurance segment, the first position is held by STRAVA - USD 2.014 million, followed by Belorusian National Fund (USD 502.7 million) and SEDYMAIA Linyi (USD 153.8 million).
