MINSK, February 17 (Itar-Tass) - Belarus and the European Union preserve the opportunity for brining relations back to normal, Belarus' Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Savinykh told a news conference on
"Relations of Belarus with the European Union can be characterized as rather complicated," he said.
"In many respects this complexity is determined by the EU's unilateral actions taken after well-known events in Minsk last December, the diplomat said.
In particular, Brussels banned entry of Belarus' many senior officials and law enforcers in response to persecution of the opposition.
"These decisions are illegal from Belarus' point of view, they cancel serious achievements that had been made in our bilateral relations. They also make the Belarussian side take the relevant retaliatory measures," Savinykh said.
