Charge d'Affaires of Belarus in Romania summoned at MFA
The Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Belarus in Bucharest, Sergey Molunov, was summoned at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 2 February 2011, following a number of statements he had made on the same day.
The Romanian side said those statements had been inappropriate, as Romania's position in the context of post-election events in the Republic of Belarus reflected, and was in full agreement with, the views shared by all EU Member States. Romania's conduct also relied on the need to guarantee, safeguard and protect the freedom of peaceful assembly and unrestricted expression of beliefs.
The Romanian side also emphasized that it would continue to endorse the democratic aspirations of the Republic of Belarus society.
