Federation Council ratifies protocol on duty-free crude supply to Belarus

MOSCOW, February 12 (Itar-Tass) -- The Federation Council has ratified the protocol on the duty-free delivery of crude for internal consumption in Belarus. The State Duma ratified the document earlier.

The Federation Council held a special session to ratify the protocol because the ratification process must be complete before February 15.

The protocol amends the Russian-Belarusian agreement on crude and petroleum product exports of January 12, 2007. It was signed on January 27 after the settlement of disputable issues between Russia and Belarus, Chairman of the Federation Council CIS Affairs Committee Andrei Molchanov said.

"The protocol exempts from the customs duty the crude supplied by Russia for consumption in Belarus and says that Russia sets the amount of the customs duty on extra crude deliveries," a Russian government source said.
