Belarus sees cooperation in nanotechnologies one of EurAsEC High-Tech Centre priorities

Belarus believes that one of the EurAsEC High-Tech Centre priorities may become cooperation in nanotechnologies, BelTA learnt from the representative of the Belarusian delegation that accompanies Alexander Lukashenko at the EurAsEC summit on February 4. The issue of setting up the High-Tech Centre tops the agenda of the meeting.

"The creation of such centre is in the interests of Belarus. It needs a package of constituent documents be elaborated and adopted. It is also necessary to settle the issues of human resources and technical maintenance, define specific activities," he said.

At the same time he drew attention to the fact that this work should not hamper the implementation of the Innovative Biotechnologies Interstate Programme and the Eurasian Strategic Programme for Electronic Technologies Development.

The decision to study the development of the EurAsEC High-Tech Centre was fixed in the protocol of the informal summit of the presidents of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan on December 19-21, 2008. According to the experts, the major goal of the EurAsEC High Technology Centre will be joint development and implementation of sci-tech programmes and innovation projects. It will help form the EurAsEC common research area and attract a large number of scientists.
