Belarusian Police Detain, Harass Activists

Police in the Belarusian city of Homel have harassed and detained three activists.

Vasil Tokaranaka, Kastus Zhukovski, and Andriy Tsyanuta were holding a protest demanding that the Committee for State Security (KGB) not interfere in the work or personal lives of citizens when police detained them.

The protesters told RFE/RL's Belarus Service later that they were officially interrogated, searched, and asked to remove all of their clothes.

They were later found guilty of holding an unsanctioned mass gathering and of obstruction of justice and fined.
