Belarus Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov visiting Italy and Vatican: Day Two

On 25 February, during the second day of the official visit to Italy Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov met with President of the Foreign Affairs and Immigration Commission of the Italian Senate Lamberto Dini.

They exchanged views on a wide range of issues of the world's political, financial and economic agenda and discussed in detail the current stage and future prospects of relations of Belarus with the European Union and Italy. The Senator declared readiness to help develop bilateral relations and contacts between Parliaments of both countries and accepted with gratitude the invitation to visit Belarus at a time of his convenience.

In a meeting with Sergei Martynov, Deputy Minister for Productive Activities of Italy Adolfo Urso who is in charge of external trade in the Italian Government declared intention of the Italian side to step up to a new level of trade, economic and investment cooperation with Belarus. Sergei Martynov and Adolfo Urso discussed substantially the prospects of cooperation across different industries and how to put a systemic approach and planning to the intergovernmental cooperation in economy.

On 25 February, the Foreign Minister of Belarus met with Secretary of State of Vatican Tarcisio Bertone, Secretary for Relations with States of Vatican Dominique Mamberti and Grand Master of the Sovereign Order of Malta Fra'Matthew Festing.

During the meetings with the Vatican officials, Sergei Martynov discussed a number of issues of bilateral cooperation and how the agreements stemmed from the visit of Tarcisio Bertone to Belarus were being implemented.

The meeting with Fra'Matthew Festing focused on the pan-European agenda and humanitarian cooperation.
