Russia's EuroChem resumes fertilizer supplies to Belarus

MOSCOW. Feb 25 (Interfax) - Russia's EuroChem Mineral Chemical Company will supply Belarus with up to 100,000 tonnes of ammophos and 50,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate by the spring planting season, the company said in a statement.

This marks the first time Belarus has acquired fertilizers from EuroChem since the financial crisis began. The company supplied Belarus with 160,000 tonnes of fertilizer in 2008.

The first shipment will consist of 37,000 tonnes of ammophos produced by Fosforit in the Leningrad region, or about as much as the plant produces in a single month.

The ammonium nitrate will be delivered from EuroChem subsidiary NAK Azot (RTS: NMAZ) in the Tula region city of Novomoskovsk.

EuroChem said Belarus is one of its most important sales markets, accounting for 11.4% of all supplies to Russia and the CIS in 2008.
