Poland is looking to tighten economic cooperation with neighbouring Belarus

Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy Waldemar Pawlak is currently on an official visit to Minsk, Belarus, wiadomosci24.pl reports.

Pawlak told the Polish Radio that now is the best time for Poland to open to Belarus. According to the Minister, Poland seeks tightening cooperation between private entrepreneurs.

Waldemar Pawlak told Polish Radio he intends to support Belarus in the country's dialogue with the EU. According to the Minster of the Economy, mutual cooperation would help Poland, the EU and Belarus counteract the effects of the global crisis.

The Deputy Prime Minister is accompanied in Minsk by Polish deputy ministers of economy, agriculture and finance. The officials are to hold talks on bilateral trade, the participation of Polish companies in privatizing Belarusian firms and the perspective of Polish banks and insurance companies entering the Belarusian market.
