Belarus's BPC raises potash prices for Southeast Asian countries 10% to$550

MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax) - Belarussian Potash Company (BPC), which supplies potash fertilizer produced by Belarus's Belaruskali and Russia's UralKali (RTS: URKA) to foreign markets, has raised potash chloride fertilizer prices for Sri Lankan importers by $50 to $550 per tonne, BPC said in a statement.

The company also signed several new contracts at a price of $550 per tonne with imported from Indonesia and Malaysia. Total supplies to these three countries will amount to about 100,000 tonnes based on the new contracts.

BPC general director Vladimir Nikolayenko is quoted in the statement as saying that "serious growth in demand for potash fertilizers remains on the market today, while the shortage of this product remains extremely high and is estimated at 1.5 million-2 million tonnes by analysts."

Belarussian Potash Company is the one of the largest suppliers of potash products in the world. The company delivers potash fertilizers to Africa, Europe, India, China, the United States, the Pacific region in addition to Central and South America.

BPC was set up in April 2005. Belaruskali and UralKali each own 50% of the company. The two companies account for more than 30% of global potash chloride supplies.

The company increased currency revenue 30% in 2007 due to the favorable situation on the market.
