Volume Of Bilateral Trade Between Uzbekistan, Belarus Up 62.7%

TASHKENT, Feb 27 Asia Pulse - Uzbekistan is fifth among Belarus' largest foreign trade partners. Thus, in 2007 the volume of bilateral trade between the countries grew by 62.7 per cent to US$114.695 million from US$70.47 million in 2006, the Embassy of Belarus to Uzbekistan said.

In regards to the dynamics of trade between the countries, it is important to note that the figure has grown more than three times over in the past eight years.

At this time, Belarus' export to Uzbekistan exceeds import almost four times. Thus, in 2007, exports to Uzbekistan comprised US$93.07 billion (US$54.24 billion in 2006), having grown by 71.6 per cent.

The structure of Belarus' export to Uzbekistan is as follows: the largest share is contributed by the means of transportation - 54.4 per cent; wood and wooden products comprise about 10.3 per cent, electrical and mechanical machines and equipment - 10.3 per cent, chemical products - 9.4 per cent, food products - 5.4 per cent, non-precious metals and ware - 4.7 per cent, plastic, rubber and goods produced from them - 2.4 per cent, construction materials - 0.7 per cent, textiles and textile products - 0.6 per cent, mineral products - 0.2 per cent, and other - 1.5 per cent.

Over the past eight years (since 2000) the volume of Belarus' exports to Uzbekistan has grown more than eight times from US$10.6 million to some US$93.07 million.

The country's imports from Uzbekistan grew accordingly by 33.2 per cent from US$16.236 million in 2006 to US$21.626 million in 2007.

In reagds to the structure of imports from Uzbekistan: a major portion of Belarus' imports from Uzbekistan consists of textiles and textile products (38.2 per cent). It is followed by transportation means - 27.6 per cent, food industry products - 13.1 per cent, electrical and mechanical machines and equipment - 6.7 per cent, chemical products - 4.1 per cent, plastic and rubber goods - 3.6 per cent, mineral products - 3.5 per cent, non-precious metals and ware - 2.7 per cent, and other - 0.5 per cent.

Over the past eight years Uzbek exports to Belarus dropped from US$24 million in 2000 to US$21.6 million in 2007.
