Belarus' exports to Russia down 11.9 pct in 2005

MINSK (AFX) - Belarus' exports to Russia fell by 11.9 pct in 2005 due to a decline in supplies of petroleum products, footwear, truck and tractor components and televisions, the BelaPAN news service said.

The export of petroleum products to Russia decreased 83-fold, according to the Ministry of Statistics and Analysis.

Imports from Russia also were down compared with 2004. Belarus bought fewer Russian-made truck and tractor components, electric batteries, wires and cables, plastic products, paper and cardboard, and ferrous metal products.

Supplies to and from Russia accounted for 48.4 pct of Belarus' overall foreign trade in 2005.
