Polina Smolova to represent Belarus!
After an exciting day with ticket sales failure and the announcement of the Spanish representative, Belarus announces its contestant as well: Polina Smolova with Mama. On 10th February, the televoting Belarusian audience decided that Polina Smolova, Helena Grishanova and Lyavony would proceed to the second phase in which the Belarusian broadcaster would internally decide on which song to send to Athens.
Helena Grishanova with You can't stop this dance and Lyavony with Come back didn't manage to win the Belarussian ticket to Athens, where the 51st Eurovision Song Contest takes place.
Today, the three of them performed their song behind closed doors in front of a jury. The Belarusian broadcaster then decided and revealed that Polina Smolova will represent Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens. With the song Mama, she will be taking part in the semifinal on 18th May.
