Belarusian leader: Poland wants to recarve border

MINSK, Belarus (AP) - The authoritarian president of Belarus has accused neighboring Poland of plotting to overthrow him in order to recarve the border between the two countries.

President Alexander Lukashenko told the parliament Thursday that Poland wants to move the border 150 miles (250 kilometers) east to the Belarusian capital of Minsk.

Asked about Lukashenko's statement, Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Marcin Bosacki said "we will not react to this kind of provocation."

Lukashenko has previously accused Poland and Germany of plotting to overthrow him, claims both countries have rejected.

Lukashenko was re-elected last month in a vote widely seen as fraudulent. He has also jailed hundreds of opposition protesters and seven of the nine opposition candidates who ran against him in the Dec. 19 election.
