Belarus frees detained protesters

Belarusian authorities have freed all participants detained during opposition riots following the December 19 presidential elections who had served out the term of their administrative arrest.

More than 20 others, including two Russian nationals, remain behind bars on charges of participation in recent violent riots.

In all, more than 600 people were arrested during opposition protests against the outcome of the recent presidential elections in this former Soviet republic of about 10 million people.
