Anatomy Of A KGB Raid

In Belarus, the KGB has raided the homes of dozens of opposition activists involved in the protests that followed last month's presidential vote. On January 10, agents raided the homes of four activists in the western city of Brest.

One of those targeted was Andrey Sharenda, a supporter of Vital Rymasheuski, one of five presidential candidates jailed after the election. A recording was secretly made of the KGB's 45-minute visit to Sharenda's apartment, and passed to RFE/RL's Belarus Service hours later.
