MINSK, January 29 (Itar-Tass) -- Inter RAO UES and Belenergo signed a contract on Russian electric power supplies in Belarus and electric power transit via Belarus in 2010 here on Friday.
"Upon the results of the Moscow negotiations Inter RAO UES and Belenergo signed a contract on Russian electric power supplies in Belarus and electric power transit in the Kaliningrad region and the Baltic states in 2010," Belarusian Energy Ministry Spokeswoman Lyudmila Zenkovich told Itar-Tass.
At the end of the previous year Minsk and Moscow did not agree on the terms of Russia's commercial electric power supplies to the Baltic states via Belarus in 2010. Belarus stated that the shutdown of the Ignalina nuclear power plant in Lithuania and the electric power deficit Belarusian costs would increase due to growing electric power supplies in Lithuania and the Kaliningrad region via Belarus. Belarus insisted on the compensation for the costs.
