Dirk Prinsloo in the dock in Belarus

South African fugitive Dirk Prinsloo has reportedly refused to plead to a range of charges levelled against him in a court in Belarus.

He is on trial for an attempted bank robbery he allegedly committed in June last year.

Prinsloo is also wanted in connection with a number of sexual abuse cases in South Africa after being implicated alongside former advocate Cezanne Visser.

Prinsloo was locked inside a cage in the Belarus court during his appearance on Monday.

He refused to plead to charges of attempted robbery, assault, theft, hooliganism and threatening to kill one of his former girlfriends.

Prinsloo also asked the judge presiding over the case to recuse himself claiming the court official was biased against the South African fugitive.

Judge Vasiliy Petriv has threatened to hold Prinsloo in contempt of court if he does not cooperate when proceedings resume later on Tuesday.
