Russia and Belarus continue talks on new oil deal

Russia and Belarus will try to hammer out a new oil transport agreement on Saturday while a delegation from Minsk visits Moscow.

After the recent consultations on January 6-7, Belarus decided to hold talks on a higher level. Its delegation will be presented by First Vice Prime Minister Aleksandr Semashko.

The Russian delegation is expected to be led by Vice Prime Minister Igor Sechin.

Earlier, both sides failed to agree on new fees for piping crude from Russia into Belarus.

The previous agreement expired on January 1, 2010.

Russia's oil transporter Transneft says the outcome of the talks will not affect European consumers.
