Russia, Belarus Unity amid Crisis

Moscow, Jan 31 (Prensa Latina) The Russia-Belarus Union will not touch in 2009 the top-technology programs started last year, the country's Prime Minister Serguei Sidroski stated in this capital.

The head of government expressed optimism when referring to the Russian-Belarusian anti-crisis plan inked in Moscow along with his peer Vladimir Putin.

The strategy was drawn up by Ministries of Economic Development from both parties, to overcome consequences of the financial debacle started in the United States.

Both parties agreed to increase top-technology finance by $160 million, 20 percent more than invested in 2008, Sidorski said.

The also president of the Russia United governing party exhorted to act together to minimize the negative impact of the world crisis in the two economies.

"We must use the benefits of integration, develop trade and industrial cooperation," Sidorsk stressed.

As part of the Unified State project, Moscow and Minsk will implement 42 integration programs in new technologies, industry, energy, border security and defense, among other areas of cooperation.
