MINSK, January 20 (RIA Novosti) - The presidents of Belarus and Ukraine will hold talks in Chernigov, northern Ukraine on Tuesday to focus on expanding bilateral economic ties, a Belarusian presidential spokesman said.
The meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and Viktor Yushchenko will be followed by extended bilateral talks.
"Trade between Belarus and Ukraine exceeded $5 billion in 2008. It is unacceptable to allow the trade volumes to drop," the spokesman said.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss a number of border crossing issues, sign bilateral documents and hold a joint news conference after the talks.
