Syria and Belarus to cooperate for manufacturing buses and tractors

SANA reported that Mr Fouad Issa al Joni minister for industry of Syria held a meeting with Mr Nikolai Kosten, director general of the Minsk Automobile Plant, during which they discusses bilateral cooperation between Syria and Belarus in the field of manufacturing busses and tractors in Syria.

Mr al Joni stressed the need for a private sector partner that is willing to participate with the Belarusian company to establish a production line for busses, calling on the Belarusian side to present an estimate of the costs of establishing this line in order for the Syrian side to study it, noting that Syria needs around 1500 busses each year.

He pointed out that there were previous discussions for cooperation in producing tractors at al Furat Tractor Company in Aleppo adding that forming a new joint company would be viable to produce tractors with horsepower ranging from 90 to 100.

Mr Kosten affirmed his commitment for cooperation with Syria. He added that MAZ has been producing trucks, trailer trucks and busses for 65 years, with production lines in Iran, Venezuela and Egypt, in addition to two production lines for busses in Russia.
