Belarus does not have problems with gas deliveries, increased transit to Europe - Beltransgaz

Minsk, January 15 (Interfax) - Belarus does not have any problems with gas deliveries, Beltransgaz First Deputy head of Tsvitomir Sorokhan told Interfax.

"There is no problem with gas deliveries to Belarus. Every consumer receives gas continuously and in line with the stated demand," Sorokhan said.

"Gas transit through the country to Europe was increased by 35 million cubic meters per day [including by 22.5 million cubic meters per day via the Yamal-Europe network and by 9.6 million cubic meters via the Beltransgaz network] compared to the December level in line with requests from our colleagues from Gazprom, Poland and Germany," Sorokhan said.

Belarusian-Russian relations in the gas sphere will not evolve in line with the Ukrainian scenario, despite the absence of officially set gas price for 2009, First Deputy Belarusian Energy Minister Eduard Tovpenets told Interfax late last week. An additional agreement of the four-year contract with Gazprom on a gas price for Belarus in 2009 is expected to be signed by the end of January, he added.
