Truck line shrinks on one section of Belarusian-Polish border, grows onother

MINSK. Jan 29 (Interfax) - The line of trucks waiting to enter Belarus on the Brest section of the border with Poland has grown by 15 kilometers while the situation on the Grodno section is gradually improving, Interfax was told at the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry.

The ministry said that at 9 a.m. on Tuesday 2,500 vehicles were waiting to enter Belarus through the Kozlovichi-Kukuryki checkpoint forming a 60-kilometer long line. At the same time on Monday there had been 1,800 vehicles standing in a 45-kilometer line.

"On Monday the Polish side checked 200 vehicles heading for Belarus, and today 82 vehicles have passed," a ministry official said.

Experts report a gradual improvement at checkpoints in the Grodno region. At 9 a.m. on Monday there was an 8-kilometer line at the Berestovitsa checkpoint (12 kilometers on Monday) with 350 vehicles waiting to enter Belarus (500 on Monday). The line of outgoing vehicles was 400 meters long.

At the Bruzgi checkpoint 150 vehicles were waiting to enter Belarus (550 on Monday) forming a 3-kilometer line. In Privalka the line was only 500 meters long.

The ministry stressed that checkpoints in Vitebsk, Gomel and Mogilyov are operating normally with no lines in either direction.
