Belarus denies negotiating sale of S-300 anti-aircraft missiles to Iran

MINSK. Jan 18 (Interfax) - The Belarusian State Security Council Secretariat has denied media reports suggesting that Belarus was negotiating the sale to Iran of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems earlier received from Russia.

"We are surprised by this new tide of rumors and speculations, which have never been confirmed, because there are no grounds to it," a secretariat spokesperson told Interfax on Friday.

"Until recently, nobody has been able to provide serious arguments confirming Belarus's involvement in dubious dealings. Besides, it is ridiculous to discuss such rumors," the spokesperson said.

The Belarusian Defense Ministry told Interfax that all S-300 systems in Belarus's possession are in the inventory of three air defense brigades.
