MOSCOW, January 30 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian and Belarussian defence ministries began on Tuesday an active stage of a joint command and staff military game.

The chief of the Russian Defence Ministry's public relations department, Sergei Rybakov, told that the game was designed to elaborate coordinated measures "for defence of the national interests of Russia, Belarus and the union state and to regulate a mechanism for their realisation".

Representatives of the two countries' defence, foreign, economic and other ministries and of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation take part in the game.

It is conducted under joint command of Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov and Belarussian Defence Minister Leonid Maltsev.

The command and staff game will be finished on February 2.
