Carola in Belarus Final tonight

Carola will perform as a guest of honour in tonight's Belarus final. She will sing three songs: her Eurovision Song Contest 2006 entry Invincible, that gained her a respectable 5th place in Athens, Sa lange jag lever and Nar loven faller, the song she sent and was accepted with for the Melodifestivalen 2003 but later disqualified. She will sing in both English and Russian. She will also meet with Belarus authorities for future collaborations.

Carola, who has represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest three times - in 1983 with Framling (3rd), in 1991 with Fangad av en stormvind (1st) and in 2006 with Invincible (5th) - besides being the runner up in 1990 with Mitt I ett aventyr in Melodifestivalen will have an Eurovision filled spring 2007 as well. Besides this Belarussian adventure she will be present in the Melodifestivalen final on 10th March as well. She will present the award to the winner and most likely will perform as well.

During her trip to Minsk, Carola will meet with a minister from the government who has expressed wishes that Carola would give charity concerts in Belarus, and with representatives from a record label about an album in English. Last year her plans for an international release and English version of her latest album were put on hold due to throat problems.

In the Swedish newspaper Expressen, Carola talks about releasing an album in Europe with duets with various European artists. She already has recorded a duet with world famous Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, whose album including the song Because we believe is still in the Swedish charts at number 60 after 33 weeks.

Carola will start her new tour from Haparanda, in north of Sweden near the Finnish border on February 3rd. She will be touring until April 21st. She tells about her plans for 2007 in Aftonbladet: "2007 feels exciting. I can't even imagine taking it easy. I am more selective nowadays. I have plans to go to Israel again, write pop songs and record my new Christmas album."

Carola was voted the Entertainer of the year 2006 in Sweden by Aftonbladet readers. She beats Lena Philipsson (Sweden 2004 with It hurts) and Martin Stenmarck (Sweden 2005 with Las Vegas), third and seventh on the list, she also came second in the categories of 'Song of the year' and 'female performance of the year' in the esctoday.com awards.
