Russia may trim oil output in dispute

Russia is reported considering scaling back its oil output because of crude transit problems in Belarus.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said the situation is so serious Russia may move its oil transit route away from Belarus altogether, The International Herald Tribune reported Wednesday.

Russian officials accused Belarus earlier this week of siphoning off about 79,000 tons of Europe-bound oil and for the second time since last winter, cut off the oil supply through Belarus' Druzhba pipeline.

That two-day stoppage affected the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine.
